This summer term, we're concentrating on two main events (full details to follow):

Cricket Day - Saturday 7th June

This will be a day of fun for the family, with cricket matches against teams from The Old Downians and games and activities for the children.

Jazz Day and Barn Dance - Friday 27th June

To end the school year, we're planning a Barn Dance to follow the Jazz Day performances.  This will be a fabulous event for all the family - to be held on the Boys' Lawn (weather permitting!).

Merger of 'The Friends'

With the merger ahead, informal meetings have already begun between the Friends of The Downs and the Friends of Malvern College Prep, and the coming months will see the development of plans to create one new 'Friends' organisation for the merged schools.  Watch this space for details.

FRIENDS OF THE DOWNs (fod)

Shop 'til you drop!
The FODs are a fantastic bunch of highly motivated, hard working and extremely social people - who without fail manage to fund those little or not so little extras for the school that make all the difference and still have fun at the same time. Events over the last year have ranged from the ‘Shop 'til you Drop’ shopping experience and a Cricket Festival through to running the bar at the performances of Whipplescrumptious with the ever-popular family events such as our Bonfire Party, Burns Night and Pancake Races falling somewhere in between.



The major project for the year has been the renovation of the cricket pavilion with the installation of some much appreciated toilet facilities. There is still some work to do to finish paying for these restorations but that just means another year of fun will have to follow!

FOD is made up of a representative group of parents - we try to ensure we have someone from each year group, whether as volunteers or press-ganged - the next AGM is in October, and we'll be looking for some new members so be warned!  As well as the core committee, we are always looking for additional helpers for our events, so if you don't want to get too involved but can help out from time to time, please do speak to any one of the Committee.  Our details can be found on the FOD noticeboard in the Boys' Hall.
