The House Staff
Our boarders are in the care of professional Houseparents, supported by a resident team of teaching and non teaching staff with boarding experience.The team are always around to listen, play or just have a cup of tea with. In the evenings and at weekends day staff can always be found around the House, bridging the transfer from day to boarding.

The Medical Centre
Our two matrons
The new Medical Centre with its ensuite rooms is staffed by our friendly matrons who provide round the clock care for any child who is ill or in need of some tlc. The school doctor visits once a week for routine appointments or can be seen at the local surgery at other times as and when necessary. We have access to two cottage hospitals either in Malvern or Ledbury for minor injuries or within 40mins we can be at either Worcester or Hereford County Hospitals.

Flexi Boarding
Girls in pink
This can be truly ‘flexible’. You can book in advance or assuming there are beds available even on the day. You can also stay as long as you want.
Boys in blue - no stereo types here!
There is no pressure from us, but if you are going to board at your senior school, boarding here at The Downs Malvern College Prep will prepare you well for your move. Maybe even the summer term of Year 7!
Transport
For your convenience, we can arrange transport to and from Heathrow or Birmingham airports, as well as coaches to Exeter, London or Guildford. For information regarding routes and prices please liase with our Boarding House Parents and Martin Wheeler our transport manager.

Welcome to The Warren (our Boarding House.)
The Boarding House and surrounding gardens.
The refurbishment of our House is complete and can now accommodate up to 50 full or flexi boarders. We have fantastic new dorms, 4 to 8 beds, beautiful new shower and wash room facilities and the new TV and games rooms, providing all boarders and flexis with a real home from home experience.
Sparkling new bathrooms.
Computers, all apple macs, kitchen, pool tables, table tennis tables, snooker, air hockey and of course table football to keep you entertained in the evenings and weekends, what is the need for the 50 inch TV and DVD!
Someone to play with and competition is sweet.
Outside the House we have the Lawn, 2 hard play areas an astro and acres of playing fields and in the summer our excellent outdoor heated swimming pool, not to mention the Malvern Hills!
Swimming, a popular summer evening and weekend activity.
With all these facilities available and our new sportshall being completed at Easter there is hardly time to stop and enjoy the pleasure of sleep.

Routines
Boarding has to be appealing to children and here at The Downs Malvern College Prep, boarding is very much based on feeling happy and safe, and having a lot of fun. There is firm but fair routine, time set aside for study, music practice and quiet relaxation as well as regular fun nights and special weekend activities.

Boarders have the opportunity to have their 'say' in regular 'Chat Times' as well more informally at any time. Discussions are two way and taken seriously with minutes displayed on the notice baord and regular feed back sessions.

Wednesday nights – are Fun Nghts!
Fun night on a Wednesday is proving very popular. Be it ‘spot light’ or ‘chill out’ night, early booking is essential. It is also tuck night! Other activities include: Chocolate bingo, beetle drives, egg drops, pool and table tennis competitions… the list is endless.
Saturday Nights – DVD night.
What a way to spend the evening, tuck, DVD and Hot chocolate.
Birthday celebrations
Happy Birthday to you.
These are always celebrations whether your birthday falls in term time or not. We celebrate with cake and drinks in our TV room in the evening with the other boarders.
